CEO and Founder Maria Kraus established mk² in 2000 to serve international food & beverage clients in the European market. After gaining more than a decade of valuable experience within PR & communications agencies, Maria decided to take matters into her own hands and open her own agency. 2022 marks her 22nd year in business with mk².
Maria received her B.A. in Humanities from the University of California at Irvine which ignited her love of the United States and its agricultural bounty. On her return to Germany, Maria earned her M.A. in American Studies, Spanish, and Economics from the University of Bonn. Joining a large German PR firm, Maria quickly developed a niche for representing U.S. businesses in Europe. By chance, she won a contract to manage the U.S.A. Pavilion at the Anuga tradeshow which set her on a path of marketing and representation for food & beverage cooperator groups.
Having been responsible for a wide variety of international business during her career, Maria has developed a deep understanding for the needs of clients as they approach the European market. Fluent in German, English, French and Spanish, Maria is an invaluable partner for companies conducting business across Europe. Maria is an industry veteran in the international food & beverage marketing arena, contributing in-depth knowledge and expertise across every mk² account.
Not to be outdone by her team, Maria is an excellent cook and a true wine aficionado. She loves to travel and visits her mother in the Black Forest as often as her schedule allows.
